Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects an estimated 2.5 million individuals worldwide, an estimated 5% of these patients already have first clinical symptoms before the age of 16 years. The ChildrenMS project deals with the population-based epidemiology and the natural history of pediatric MS in Germany. Knowledge has reached specific importance for the evaluation of already available and newly emerging therapies.
Aims:
• Nationwide recruitment of pediatric MS patients residing in Germany birth prevalence
• Patient register for Germany
• Description of the natural disease course and under treatment
• Validation of McDonald criteria in contrast to others
• Setting up an information forum
